Aún queda verano (y ropa que vestir):

¿No es agosto un mes de puro placer? Hasta su propio nombre parece susurrar que durante su periodo de duración siempre se está a gusto. Lo que es más, la gran mayoría toman sus necesitadas vacaciones durante este, (motivo por el cual hasta las ciudades más concurridas se tornan desérticas) lo que multiplica el valor del ambiente relajado que ya de por sí, viene intrínseco al octavo mes del año.

Sin embargo, al igual que todo héroe tiene un villano, la plácida burbuja de agosto se ve cruelmente estallado la irritante e incesante llegada del preludio publicitario que nos advierte de la proximidad del otoño y del comienzo del curso escolar.

Pero este año he llegado a la conclusión de que el desenlace debe tomar otra dirección, y de que el que este cambio ocurra está al alcance de mi mano. Claramente, no está en mi mano frenar el oleaje de ofertas en libros de texto y artículos de nueva temporada, pero aquello que si alcanza mi poder es la forma en que reacciono ante estas, y por lo tanto, de ahora en adelante, no me dejaré arrastrar por la exageración sino que simplemente haré caso omiso de la preocupaciones del mañana y en su lugar me sumergiré en el presente.

Este es uno de los factores que ha contribuido en años anteriores a la creación de la tormenta perfecta en que me he enzarzado inútilmente, aunque en al caso también contribuye el cansancio. Con esto me refiero a la fatiga en que uno se ve atrapado tras la tediosa tarea de elegir atuendo un día tras otro durante el verano una vez pasada la ilusión inicial de tener días más largos y temperaturas más altas por delante, pues (y espero no ser la única persona con este parecer) las dificultades de lograr construir un estilismo que represente nuestra identidad individual a la par que resulte impasible aumentan en calidad de la disminución de prendas a las que el calor nos permite acceder.

Los accesorios también se limitan y, en mi opinión, vestir en climas extremos, ya se inclinen hacia el sudor o los escalofríos,  es igualmente costoso, pues el invierno tampoco ofrece grandes perspectivas ya que al final, bajo tantas capas, poco más que el abrigo queda visible. Ante esta problemática no tengo mantras de autoayuda que predicar, pero ante la adversidad, siempre tenemos un recurso al que recurrir para reforzar nuestras inseguridades en lo concerniente a la moda: las pasarelas.

Como grandes futurólogos, los diseñadores siempre tienen la capacidad de vestir modelos en la ropa que queremos ver incluso antes de que este mismo deseo haya nacido en nosotros (dicho de una forma menos romántica, son maestros para conjurar necesidades imaginarias en las masas para alentar el consumismo desenfrenado) y por tanto lo visto en temporadas pasadas es la actual moda.

No creo que reiterar las tendencias ya sabidas, conocidas y memorizadas por, me atrevo a decir, todo el mundo vaya a servir para reavivar la llama de la inspiración en nadie, sin embargo, hay ciertas corrientes que de un modo más subliminal han tomado su pedacito de fama en las grandes colecciones (y las firmas que luego las plagian para venderlas a las masas, sí, te hablo a ti Inditex) pero que han permanecido más alejadas será foco de atención, y por tanto, puede ser de gran provecho revisarlas para volver a la conquista de la vestimenta estival.

Una de ellas es el sueño hecho realidad de los minimalistas, se trata de una Oda a la limpieza y a la frescura que emana el color blanco. Una reinterpretación menos ostentosa de lo que significa vestir de forma lujosa se presenta al más puro estilo Jil Sander, confrontándome con la popularidad adquirida por el estallido de color que ha tomado tanto protagonismo en armarios de todo el mundo.

Una de las herramientas más útiles para adquirir el aspecto deseado es la sastrería, en la que durante los últimos años ha reinado una preferencia por las prendas oversized que continúa en su trono, pero esto no implica que debamos emular a Justin Bieber en los Grammy, y menos ahora que el famoso bodycon de los 90 vuelve a estar en lo alto.

Unificar ambas tendencias res una forma fácil de conseguir una silueta proporcionada, que resuene con la moda actual y que resulte atemporalmente elegante. Algunos añadidos para garantizar esta estética son las paletas de tonalidades neutrales (no es imperioso ceñirse al blanco) y accesorios, que sin resultar abrumadores, reafirmen la notoriedad del ajuar.

Continuando con las buenas noticias, Miuccia Prada ha logrado que las faldas de cola puedan ser tan apropiadas para un día en la ciudad como lo son en la alfombra roja. De la mano de Prada, y ahora también de otras marcas que se han sumado a la iniciativa, tenemos la posibilidad de decir en un sentido más literal que figurado, que nosotros, el drama, lo dejamos atrás. Puesto que mientras por el frente nada parece salirse de lo común, el verdadero jolgorio tiene lugar por detrás, donde todo un abanico de distinción se despliega como lo haría un pavo real con su plumaje.

There is still summer left (and clothes to wear): 

Isn’t August a month of pure pleasure? Even its very the waves crashing in the shore or the birds flying in the sky seem to whisper that during its duration you are always at ease. What's more, the vast majority take their much-needed vacations during it, (which is why even the busiest cities turn desertic) which multiplies the value of the relaxed atmosphere that is already intrinsic to the eighth month of the year.

However, just as every hero has a villain, the placid bubble of August is cruelly burst by the irritating and incessant arrival of the advertising prelude that warns us of the approaching beginning of fall and the start of the school year.

But this year I have come to the conclusion that the outcome must take another direction, and that whether this change occurs or not, is within my reach. Clearly, it is not in my power to stop the swell of deals on textbooks and new season items, but what is within my powers is the way I react to them, and therefore, from now on, I will not allow myself to be carried away by the annoying hype, but simply ignore the worries of tomorrow and instead immerse myself in the present moment.

This is one of the factors that has contributed in previous years to the creation of the perfect storm in which I have uselessly gotten involved, although in this case fatigue also contributes. By this I mean the tiredness in which one is trapped after the tedious task of choosing clothes day after day during the summer once the initial illusion of having longer days and higher temperatures ahead has passed, because (and I hope I am not the only one with this opinion) the difficulties to build a style that represents our individual identity while remaining impassive increase, as the garments that the heat allows us to access to, decrease.

Accessories are also limited and, in my opinion, dressing in extreme climates, whether they lean towards sweat or shivers, is equally complex, since winter does not offer great prospects either, because in the end, under so many layers, little more than our coats are visible. Faced with this problem, I have no self-help mantras to preach, but in the face of adversity, we always have a resource to turn to to reinforce our insecurities regarding fashion: the catwalks.

As great futurologists, designers have the ability to dress models in the clothes we want to see even before this very desire has been born in us (said in a less romantic way, they are masters at conjuring imaginary needs in the masses to encourage the rampant consumerism) and therefore what was seen in past seasons is the current fashion statement.

I don't think that reiterating trends already met, known and memorized by, dare I say, everyone will serve to rekindle the flame of inspiration in anyone, however, there are certain currents that in a more subliminal way have taken their bit of fame in the big collections (and the firms that later plagiarize them to sell them to the masses, yes, I'm talking to you Inditex) but that have remained further away will be the focus of attention, and therefore, it can be of great benefit to review them in order to return to the conquest of summer clothing.
