“Ha comenzado” dos simples palabras que hundieron millones de vidas en el más profundo terror la madrugada del 24 de febrero, que han supuesto pérdidas inestimables para toda una nación y que han abierto una herida que difícilmente sanará.

Nuestros abuelos solían decirnos que los males vienen siempre acompañados, pero nadie jamás nos advirtió que podrían venir en avalancha ¿Y cómo hacerlo? Quién podría haber previsto tamaña tragedia, si algo nos ha quedado claro tras estos dos últimos caóticos años es que la vida es un enigma indescifrable ante el cual sólo nos queda “prepararnos para lo peor y esperar lo mejor”. La desgracia planta en el ser humano la semilla de la fe, pero la tormenta ahoga su flor; buscamos un clavo ardiente al que aferrarnos pero las quemaduras en nuestras magulladas manos nos impiden mantenernos prolongadamente porfiados a este pues la desesperanza merma la ilusión del mañana. Sin embargo, ya no sólo como miembros de una misma sociedad sino también como hermanos y criaturas dotadas de conciencia, es nuestro deber empatizar con el pueblo ucraniano, brindarles un rayo luz en esta oscura pesadilla y unirnos ante la discordia.

Ideologías aparte, anteponer los intereses propios al bienestar popular es la asignatura de las figuras políticas como nos evidencian diariamente con sus fraudes, su intercepción en los medios comunicativos o sus las promesas rotas de todo partido político. Pero los sucesos activos en la Europa oriental va más allá de la cotidiana avaricia, corrupción y falsedad; es un atentado mundial contra la libertad y la vida liderado por el fanatismo, la crueldad y la codicia.

¿Acabará esto siendo la III Guerra Mundial? ¿Mediará China en favor de La Paz? ¿Tomará mayores magnitudes el conflicto involucrando a terceros países? Ninguna de estas cuestiones dispone de una respuesta certera, pero el destello extremista en los ojos de Vladimir Putin revelan que el líder ruso permitirá mayores atrocidades antes que dejar escapar su objetivo. Por lo tanto, aunque seamos sencillos civiles no debemos obviar el poder en nuestra mano de marcar la diferencia para cantidad de refugiados, naturalmente, no todos tenemos un poder adquisitivo que nos permita donar 3 millones de dólares a la causa al igual que han hecho Ashton Kutcher y Mila Kunis, no todos tenemos joyas preciosas que empeñar al alcance de nuestra mano como Gigi Hadid, no todos somos grandes magnates de nuestra industria como Amancio Ortega o Pepe Miguel con puestos que nos den la oportunidad de aportar “pequeñas” fortunas a las ONGs. No obstante, existen diversos métodos de colaborar a parte de las donaciones monetarias que se adaptan a todo tipo de bolsillo (incluso los vacíos): recolectas de alimentos, puntos de recogida de material sanitario, recaudaciones de prendas contra el frío de segunda mano, …

Y aunque lo que os propongo a continuación no es la forma más ortodoxa de arrimar el hombro no debe ser subestimada, pues apoyar los negocios ucranianos es otro modo de mantener a flote a muchas familias que de otro modo no podrán salir del campo de batalla, sobrevivir o en un futuro (cercano, esperemos) reconstruir sus vidas debido a una falta inminente de ingresos económicos. Our grandparents used to tell us that setbacks are always accompanied, but no one ever warned us that they could come in an avalanche. And how to do it? Who could have foreseen such a tragedy? But the active events in Eastern Europe go beyond the daily selfishness, corruption and falsehood; it is a global attack on freedom and life led by fanaticism, cruelty and greed.

Will this end up being World War III? Will China mediate in favor of peace? Will the conflict take on greater magnitudes involving third countries? Therefore, although we are simple civilians, we must not ignore the power in our hands to make a difference for a certain number of refugees, naturally, not all of us have the a home economy that allows us to donate 3 million dollars to the cause, as Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have done, not all of us have precious jewels to pawn at our fingertips like Gigi Hadid, not all of us are great tycoons of our industry like Amancio Ortega or Pepe Miguel with positions that give us the opportunity to contribute with "small" fortunes to charity. However, there are various methods of collaborating apart from monetary donations that adapt to all types of pockets (even empty ones): food collections, pick-up points for sanitary material, compendiums of second-hand clothing against the cold, …

And although what I am proposing below is not the most orthodox way to lend a hand, it should not be underestimated, since supporting Ukrainian businesses is another way of keeping many families afloat who otherwise would not be able to leave the battlefield, survive or in the (hopefully near) future rebuild their lives due to an imminent lack of income.
