Minimalism: hit or miss.

Ser original ya no se reduce a una consecuencia natural producida por los diferentes gustos que cada individuo pueda albergar particularmente. Se ha convertido en un añadido a la infinita lista de deberes sociales que de un modo más o menos subliminal, nos vemos empujados a cumplir. ¿Es realmente tan fatídico aparecer en un evento vestido igual que otra persona? La verdad objetiva, es que lo máximo que se puede deducir de tal casualidad es que ambos comparten gustos similares; pero de ahí a concluir que esto a sucedido debido a una despreocupada carencia de personalidad por parte de los sujetos, existe un agujero negro en por el cual nos hemos dejado succionar.

En esta misma línea podría enumerar una desmesurada cantidad de ejemplos que ponen de manifiesto lo absurdo que este internalizado mecanismo de tratar de destacar entre la multitud por todos los medios, por lo que, si esto fuera un casino, apostaría la partida a favor del rey de la simpleza, el minimalismo. Hace muchos jueves tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer detalladamente a su polo opuesto: el maximalismo, pero por fin le ha llegado el turno a su antónimo.

Confieso que mi propia ingenuidad me condujo que el día de su resurrección se encontraba en un impalpable futuro, pero es obvio que la moda ha pisado el acelerador como nunca antes lo había hecho. Quizás suene contradictorio hablar de un aumento en el ritmo de la industria cuando tantas veces hemos escuchado como estos caóticos tiempos de incertidumbre provocados por diversos factores, pero especialmente inducidos por la pandemia, han logrado refrenar la inconsciencia que antes movía a este sector para ser restituido por una nueva mentalidad basada en la autorreflexión. 

No obstante, lo cierto es que como tantas otras cosas en este mundo, se trata de un escaparate de ficción ideado para disimular la engorrosa realidad. Por supuesto, no todas las marcas predican promesas vacías, pero el caso es que no me encontraría escribiendo estas palabras si no fuera porque una preocupante mayoría se inclina por el beneplácito de la hipocresía antes que por el bien común.

Personalmente, mi fase es minimalista constituye un capítulo que deje atrás hace bastante en mi recorrido vital, pero hoy día me pregunto ¿es posible que esta, sencillamente, fuese una de muchas por venir? Podría ser que la teoría sobre el ciclo recurrente del espacio tiempo de Nietzsche no estuviese tan lejos de la realidad después de todo, cosas más extrañas se han visto.

Además, dados los conflictos que encaramos actualmente, sólo resultaría natural que recurriésemos a esta corriente estilística como salvavidas. En primera instancia, tenemos la famosa sostenibilidad que tantas veces viene ocupando nuestro foco de atención, lo cual a muchos les resulta cansino, no obstante, por mucho que a mí también me gustaría poder dar este tema por sabido, es evidente que todavía hay trabajo que hacer cuando el medioambiente continúa estando en un alarmante estado de peligro. Por esto, una de las medidas a tener muy en cuenta al adoptar un modo de vida para eco responsable es lo que la célebre Marie Kondo tiene por moto de organización: deshazte de todo lo que no te traiga absoluta felicidad.

Ahora bien, este sentimiento puede resultar engañoso en la medida en que un efímero placer nos es proporcionado por toda adquisición , sin embargo, este no se corresponde con la atemporalidad que caracteriza a las prendas verdaderamente funcionales. En este sentido, el minimalismo dicta que los estampados estrambóticos, los volúmenes exagerados y la ornamentación excesiva implican, por norma general, un futuro cansancio de los mismos o sólo porque suelen ir ligados a las cambiantes tendencias, sino también por cuanto dificultan la construcción de atuendos versátiles.

Comúnmente el minimalismo se confunde con una corriente falta de emoción, como por ejemplo, en los colores que incluye en su gama cromática, pero no sólo son los neutros parte de esta, sino que todo el arcoíris en bienvenido. En definitiva, las siluetas sobrias y los cortes básicos no constituyen un estilo insensible, sino los fundamentos de la esencia del arte del vestir.

Para iniciarse en el camino de la calidad antes que la cantidad que sostiene esta estética, disponer de algunos elementos base harán la tarea infinitamente más sencilla. En primer lugar, atendiendo a la llegada de días menos cálidos, debemos hablar de prendas de entretiempo como las blazers, ya sea al estilo Lady Di o Kaia Gerber.

Los tradicionales jerséis, con los cuales podemos jugar tanto en lo que concierne a las distintas tonalidades como en el material en que se componen.

Por otro lado, la combinación que tantísimo furor ha causado sobre la pasarela en la pasada temporada de otoño invierno y la cual ya he mencionado con anterioridad: top blanco y vaqueros, puede ser reversionado para obtener un mayor grado de formalidad con una simple pero polifacética camisa blanca.

Para mayor inspiración, fijarse en la población francesa siempre es un acierto, pues a lo largo de los años han conseguido perfeccionar el arte del minimalismo, desde luego Francoise Hardy y Betty Catroux han proporcionado décadas de evidencia.

Being original is no longer just a natural consequence produced by the different tastes that each individual may particularly harbor. It has become an addition to the endless list of social duties that, in a more or less subliminal way, we are all pushed to fulfill. Is it really that fateful to show up at an event dressed just like someone else? The objective truth is that the most that can be deduced from such a coincidence is that both share similar tastes; but from there to conclude that this has happened due to a carefree lack of personality of one of the subjects, is a black hole by which we have allowed ourselves to be sucked.

Along the same topic, I could list an inordinate number of examples that highlight the absurdity of this internalized mechanism of trying to stand out from the crowd by all means, so that, if this were a casino, I would bet the game in favor of the king of simplicity, minimalism. Many Thursdays ago we had the opportunity to get to know its polar opposite in detail: maximalism, but its antonyms turn has finally arrived.

I confess that my own naivete led me to believe that the day of its resurrection deep into an impalpable future, but it is obvious that fashion has stepped on the accelerator as never before. Perhaps it sounds contradictory to talk about an increase in the pace of the industry when we have heard so many times how these chaotic times of uncertainty caused by various factors, but especially induced by the pandemic, have managed to curb the unconsciousness that previously moved this sector; only to be restored by a new mindset based on self-reflection. However, the truth is that like so many other things in this world, it is a fictional showcase designed to hide the cumbersome reality. 

Of course, not all brands preach empty promises, but the fact is that I wouldn't find myself writing these words if it weren't for the fact that a worrying majority favors hypocrisy rather than the greater good.

Personally, my minimalist phase, is a chapter that I left behind a long time ago in my life journey, but today I ask myself, is it possible that it was simply one of the many to come? It could be that Nietzsche's theory about the recurrent cycle of space-time was not so far from reality, after all stranger things have been seen.

Furthermore, given the conflicts we are currently facing, it would only be natural for us to fall back on this stylistic current as a lifeline. On first instance, we have the famous sustainability that has so often occupied our focus of attention, which many find tiresome, however, as much as I would also like to be able to take this lesson as learned, it is evident that there is still work what to do when the environment continues to be in an alarming state of danger. For this reason, one of the measures to take into account when adopting an eco-responsible lifestyle is what the famous Marie Kondo organization mantra is: get rid of everything that does not bring you absolute joy.

However, this feeling can be misleading to the extent that an ephemeral pleasure is provided by any acquisition, nonetheless, this does not correspond to the timelessness that characterizes truly functional garments. In this sense, minimalism dictates that bizarre prints, exaggerated volumes and excessive ornamentation imply, as a general rule, a future weariness of them not only because they are usually linked to shifting trends, but also because they hinder the construction of versatile outfits.

Minimalism is commonly confused with a current that lacks emotion, for example, in the colors that it includes in its color range, but not only are neutrals part of it, but the whole rainbow is welcome as well. In short, the sober silhouettes and basic cuts do not make up an insensitive style, but the fundamentals of the essence of the art of dressing.

To get started on the path of quality before quantity that supports this aesthetic, having some basic elements will make the task infinitely easier. To begin with, considering the arrival of colder days, we must talk about mid-season garments such as blazers, styled in a Lady Di or Kaia Gerber way.

On the other hand, the combination that has caused so much fury on the catwalk last fall-winter season and which I have already mentioned: white top and jeans, can be reinvented to obtain a greater degree of formality with a simple, but versatile, white shirt.

For more inspiration, taking a look at the French is always a good idea, because over the years they have managed to perfect the art of minimalism, as pf evidence over the decades we can name Francoise Hardy and Betty Catroux.
